Say NO to privatization!
On April 17th Hamilton will be voting on whether all operations and non-lifecycle maintenance for the Light Rail Transit (LRT) be publicly run or privately run through a public-private-partnership (P3).
This is a critical moment to demand that Hamilton City Council reject the private option in favour of a publicly operated and maintained LRT.
There is no guarantee that Councillors will vote for a fully publicly operated system. This is our last opportunity to ensure that Hamilton Council makes the right decision.
We will be hosting two virtual events on Zoom, where we will make phone calls to the mayor and councillors together to support the public option. You need a phone and a computer device to participate.
Join us for these two “phone zaps”!
Thursday, April 11 @ 12pm
Monday, April 15 @ 6:30pm
A publicly run system will:
keep taxpayer money and fares in Hamilton
provide good, green jobs for Hamiltonians
keep fares lower
support efficient transit connections between the LRT and city bus routes
ensure greater accountability, transparency, and local agency in decision making
Join the call to tell the Mayor and Councillors that you want to Keep Transit Public!
